Cable upstart Look tv is continuing its foray onto the Internet with the purchase of Axion Communications, a b.c.-based, full-service Internet company.
In exchange, Look will distribute 1,900,000 Class a limited voting shares to Axion shareholders, one for every 5.94 common shares of Axion, a company which provides Internet access, consultation and Web services for 18,000 clients throughout b.c. The transaction is subject to regulatory and shareholder approval.
The Axion purchase furthers Look’s stake on the Web. Last November, Look merged with Canada’s largest independent Internet service provider Internet Direct.
‘Combining Look’s cutting-edge wireless technologies, Look’s Internet Direct nationwide presence and Axion’s strength in the British Columbia market will result in Canada’s premier Internet service provider,’ Look ceo David Parkes said in a statement.
Look, with services in Ontario, Quebec and b.c., is a wireless broadband carrier that positions itself as an alternative to Canada’s major cable services.
