Rabinovitch engineers task force

In an effort to ‘prove that the cbc is a cost-conscious operator that uses the best worldwide business practices,’ the pubcaster is creating a task force to examine its operations. So says newly appointed president Robert Rabinovitch in an internal memo sent on Dec. 21 to all cbc employees.

The ‘re-engineering’ task force, headed by exec vp and coo Jim McCoubrey, will initially focus on the redesign of cbc English television, which includes news and current affairs, property management, transmission and distribution, and sports.

‘There are certain areas like news and sports that we already know we do quite well in, so it’s just to see if we can make improvements,’ says cbc spokesperson Sheila Gervais. ‘It’s like we’re asking ourselves: If we were starting from scratch, how would we build the company?’
