*Extra $1M for Canadian film and video training
Telefilm Canada will administer an extra $1 million to various Canadian film and video training organizations, thanks to a transfer agreement coordinated last week by Heritage Minister Sheila Copps and Human Resource Development Minister Jane Stewart. This agreement benefits the National Arts, Film and Video Training Contribution Program, providing a total of $2.3 million to be divided among Canadian film and video training centres.
Over the past two years, Telefilm has distributed a total of $1.3 million per year to the Canadian Film Centre, Institut de l’image et du son, the Canadian Screen Training Centre and the National Screen Institute.
*Global to air charity event on Boxing Day
Global Television taped a fundraiser for the Foster Parents Plan at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre on Oct. 30 to be aired by the net on Dec. 26.
Titled Voice of a Child: The Foster Parents Plan Gala, the special/charity event features a lineup of music and dance performers including songstress Chantal Kreviazuk, guitarist Jesse Cook and seven-year-old classical pianist Wesley Chu.
The event was directed for the Global broadcast by Shelagh O’Brien and produced by David Kitching.
