Vancouver: Kenneth Ross, the deep cover cop-turned television writer, is suing his coproducers over credit on the ctv-backed Vancouver-shot series Cold Squad.

Ross, who uses Matt MacLeod as a pseudonym, filed B.C. Supreme Court papers alleging that Julia Keatley and her father Philip Keatley have not fulfilled their roles as coproducers, says Ross’ entertainment lawyer Brad Danks.

‘This particular situation will have no impact on the continuation of production or the quality of the show,’ says Danks. ‘It’s in-fighting regarding their respective roles.’

In his Statement Claim, Ross wants the Keatleys’ credits removed from the second and third seasons of the series and alleges that they have much less involvement in the show. ‘Philip is absent and Julia is taking a diminishing role,’ says Danks. ‘Ken Ross is creatively the driving force of the show. He needs the issue of their roles resolved.’

Danks suggests that Ross has created the new look for the show’s third season, which premiered on vtv and other ctv stations Oct. 22.

Danks hopes the case will be resolved before distributor Alliance Atlantis makes a decision regarding a renewal for a fourth season.

Saying that the case is before the courts, Julia Keatley deferred comment until she and her father could file their Statement of Defence, expected early in November.
