Warner Bros. has invested in the ion (Integrated Operations Nucleus) system from Toronto’s Soundmaster Group to outfit its newly renovated Clint Eastwood Scoring Stage. The studio installed the Soundmaster ion device control system with atom hardware, which is capable of integrating up to 12 video and audio machines.
The ion solution, which was recently awarded a Tech Academy Award, also includes five of Soundmaster’s new Parallel Interfaces, which allow synchronization over Studer A820/A827 analog multitracks, and Sony 3324/3348/ 3348HR digital transports, among others.
The wb purchase was due in part to the tight integration between the ion system and the studio’s existing SSL 9000J console.
The system at wb also features the Soundmaster photon programmable 96 General Purpose Interface unit, which allows the creation of a custom user interface to mesh with the existing studio setup.
