Montreal: sodec has announced that a jury commissioned to name the organizers of a new film festival in Quebec City has chosen Images du Nouveau Monde, piloted by Yves Rousseau. Four proposals were examined based on the call for tenders developed by sodec, Ville de Quebec, the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications and National Capital Commission of Quebec.

In festival terms, Quebec City has played host to a defunct showcase for films from France sponsored by the Quebec government and exporter Unifrance International, and continues to host the International Film Festival of Quebec City, Sept. 2-8, an offshoot of the Montreal World Film Festival program.

The new Quebec City festival is slated for March 2000.
