Saatchi & Saatchi/Playback First Cut Awards

Following are the results of the fourth annual Saatchi & Saatchi/Playback First Cut Awards, recognizing new Canadian commercial directors. This year, we are presenting one First Cut winner and four runners-up in alphabetical order, rather than presenting the top five finishers in order of most votes received.

The rules:

Entry in the First Cut Awards is limited to Canadian directors represented by a recognized production company. Directors must have two years or less official directing experience and must have had at least one of their spots make it to broadcast. Judges from various corners of the industry made their picks based on storytelling/communication of idea, style, performance, indication of potential and overall impression of the reel.
