MIJO makes Big Bang

Toronto’s MIJO Corporation has acquired a majority interest in Montreal-based Big Bang Animation, a producer of effects and 3D animation for commercial and long-form projects.

The deal is intended to expand mijo’s broad video and audio post-production resources, which include online editing, digital audio recording and mixing facilities, and allow the company to pursue new 3D animation and effects opportunities.

mijo is currently comprised of Rocket Digital Post & Sound, Comprehensive Distributors, MIJO Print Technologies, Undercover Film & Electronic Media Storage, and The Clearing House and Broadcast Clearing Advisory.

Big Bang president and cofounder Mario Rachiele will maintain responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operation, strategic planning and creative and development concerns.

Big Bang provides concept, design, creative and research and development for broadcasters and producers and offers services in 3D animation with Softimage, digital compositing with Discreet Flint and Softimage Eddie, digital matte painting, and cg effects design, storyboarding and on-set supervision.

Rachiele says Big Bang will continue with long-form work and is looking to strengthen its high-end commercial presence. Big Bang has been doing effects work on a number of series projects including Big Wolf on Campus, Telescene’s Misguided Angels and Family: A Godfather’s Story for Productions La Fete.
