Minister of Human Resources Development Pierre Pettigrew has announced that $600,000 is being made available through the Canadian Film and Television Production Association for a film and tv internship program. The program will provide 50 unemployed and underemployed youths aged 15-30 with either an internship of 26 weeks or an internship/mentorship lasting 26 to 39 weeks.
The shorter internships are targeted towards production opportunities such as camera, grip, makeup, art, script and stunt activities, while the longer program is geared towards production administration, accounting, communications and marketing.
To qualify, producers must be members of the cftpa. Applications will be available May 14 from the cftpa. Deadline is June 23. Placements will be begin as early as July.
