The Canadian Television Fund has announced that $198.6 million is available in the next round of funding.
Based on the ’99/2000 guidelines, two-thirds of the total, approximately $132,267,600 is available for English-language shows and $66,133,800 is in the French-language envelope. Of the 62% for private broadcasters, roughly $123,132,000, on the English side $45,431,275 is available for tv drama, $19,107,377 for kids’ programming, $16,811,211 for docs, and $656,047 for variety/performing arts. French-language tv drama is allotted $20,214,457, kid’s programming $7,872,567, docs $9,717,700, and variety/performing arts $3,198,230.
ctf has 559 apps requesting $325 million, for $126.4 million in oversubscription. Apps for the ’99/2000 round are up over 10% from 500 vying for $289 million the previous fiscal.
