Andy Myers, former Behaviour Communications senior vp distribution who was let go in late January amidst financial and staff restructuring, has filed a wrongful dismissal suit against his Montreal-based former employer.
According to a notice at the Ontario Court General Division, a civil case was filed by Myers against Behaviour on Feb. 24.
The suit claims that Myers’ pink slip was a violation of the employment contract he had with Behaviour.
‘I am proud of my accomplishments at Behaviour and I feel badly for the suppliers, producers and filmmakers who placed their trust and confidence in me,’ says Myers, who declined further comment on the pending litigation.
Matthew Carson, a senior vp with Behaviour in Montreal, claimed no knowledge of the suit.
A distribution veteran, Myers was instrumental in striking Behaviour’s output or ‘first look’ deals with Sony Pictures Classics, Trimark and The Shooting Gallery.
