*Digidesign ships MIX

Digidesign has begun shipping its Windows nt-based single-card digital audio workstation, the Pro Tools|24 mix system. The product provides up to 64 tracks along with increased mixing and processing capabilities. The nt version of Pro Tools|24 mix follows the Mac version released last fall and provides the same functionality.

The system incorporates six Motorola 56301-series dsp chips, providing two to three times more mixing and processing power from a basic system than the previous Pro Tools 24 flagship system.

Digidesign is also offering the Pro Tools|24 mixplus system, which includes a mix farm pci card in addition to the mix core card and offers more than double the dsp processing power and support for up to 32I/O channels for a cost increase of 25%.

Pro Tools|24 mix is available for about us$7,995, the Pro Tools|24 mixplus is us$9,995 and the MIX Farm is us$3995.

*Symphony plays Vancouver

Vancouver’s Pilot West/Post-Digital Works has announced it will be offering the Avid Symphony nonlinear, uncompressed online editing system. The much-touted Symphony product is optimized for high-end tv finishing with multiple uncompressed realtime streams and retains the familiar Avid interface to provide a quick learning curve for talent.

*ICE gets cooler

Waltham, Massachusetts-based ice has begun shipping its ICE’d Final Effects Complete Version 1.0, an accelerated version of the company’s effects software package.

ice’d fec offers increased speed – from two to 45 times faster than the previous product – for special effects creation.

fec is available for systems which support the After Effects api, including Adobe After Effects and Discreet Logic’s effect.*

The Mac version is available now for about $3,000 for new users and $1,500 for upgrades. nt support will be available soon.

*TV Electronic release

California and Denmark-based TV Electronic has announced its TC Tools version 3.0, a high-end reverb, eq and chorus tdm plug-in bundle for Pro Tools digital audio workstations will be available at the end of February.
