Canadian comic Tom Green is in New York City filming six episodes of an American version of The Tom Green Show for u.s. cable channel heavyweight mtv.

The mtv shows are being produced by Ottawa-based MTR Entertainment, producers of The Tom Green Show, which runs on The Comedy Network.

According to mtr producer Merilyn Read, the mtv version will use location segments from previous Tom Green shows and repackage them with newly shot studio segments, which will feature u.s. celebrity guests. The show will premier on mtv Jan. 25. The music video station has until the end of March to order 13 new episodes.

mtv and mtr had been negotiating since October 1998 and closed the deal before Christmas.
