* Peter Liba, the longtime executive director of corporate affairs for CanWest Global Communications, has been appointed the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.
* Coscient Group has named Pierre Guilbault as its new vp and cfo. Prior to joining Coscient, Guilbault was a cfo with high-tech, information management and food distribution companies.
* At Epitome Pictures, Michel Lozier is the new director of corporate affairs, associate producer of Riverdale. Lozier spent the last six months as vp marketing and sales for LaserMedia, a cd-rom production and Internet service company. Prior to that he was director of operations at the ctf.
* Marni Wieshofer, vp of finance at Alliance Atlantis Communications, has left the company. aac senior vp corporate communications Alexandra Brown says Wieshofer’s departure was part of the 122 job cuts made by aac in November. Brown says the position of vp of finance is expected to be filled shortly.
* Tom Locke, former president and CEO of Vancouver’s Gastown Post & Transfer and a founder of Rainmaker Digital Pictures (which evolved from Gastown), ended his 14-year relationship with the company Jan. 4. As a diversified consultant in the sports and entertainment fields, Locke will work with Rainmaker competitor Command Post/Toybox to assist in strategic planning.
* Paul Markvoort has joined Delta, B.C.-based Advanced Image Communications as a producer and director of marketing in the broadcast and corporate video division. He was previously director of marketing for Pacesetter Pictures in Shanghai.
* ACTRA has elected Robert Collins as the new president of the Toronto branch. Collins, who has served on actra’s Toronto council, will be replacing Ferne Downey as president.
