A story on the crtc hearings for French-language specialty channels (‘No vacancy, says Videotron,’ Playback, Nov. 30, p. 1) reported the Specialty and Premium Television Association had called for the delisting of Sportsnet and Space: The Imagination Station as part of a preferential policy in support of new French-language applications.
The sptv submission to the crtc points out that the inclusion of Sportsnet and Space on Quebec cable menus is further evidence cable companies’ claim of lack of capacity is not credible and adds that if more new French-language specialties aren’t licensed, there is reason to believe analog space will be filled with English services. However, the submission does not call for the delisting of those English specialty services as reported.
Playback regrets the error.
