Montreal: Coscient Group (me/tse) is reporting $117.7 million in revenues for the year ending July 31, 1998, up 18% from $100 million in sales in ’97. Coscient declared a net loss of just under $1.2 million or $.08 a share in fiscal ’98. ebitda is $9.6 million.
The company says real internal growth was 10% during the period while the net loss reflects the acquisition costs of Astral Communications’ distribution unit in ’97 and Toronto-based children’s producer Owl Communications in ’98.
Drama production, with the exception of animation, and distribution activity increased in ’98, with drama making up close to half of all production revenues.
