Montreal: The 27th edition of the revamped International Festival of New Cinema and New Media opens in Montreal Oct. 15 with French director Eric Zonca’s feature debut La Vie Reve des Anges (The Dreamlife of Angels), winning film at the ’98 Cannes Film Festival. Leads Elodie Bouchez and Natacha Regnier shared the best actress prize at Cannes for their work in the film about two very different personalities who share a fragile friendship,
Sundance Grand Prize winner Marc Levin’s prison docudrama Slam is on the program as is Francois Girard’s The Red Violin. It closes the festival on Oct. 25 and stars Samuel L. Jackson and Greta Scacchi.
