A free Web service is available to help new media producers submit their policy proposals in response to the crtc’s New Media – Call for Comments, under both the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act.
The Website (www.multimediator.com/crtc, created by MultiMediator Strategy Group, Toronto, was launched to raise awareness of the hearings within the new media community and to help producers submit their proposals.
New media producers can use the Website’s online submission form, which is based on – and provides a translation of – the crtc’s questions. mmsg will also deliver properly formated print and electronic submissions as required by the crtc.
‘We thought it was important that the industry itself speak up,’ says Sam Punnett, vp of research and development at mmsg. ‘You see a lot of partially informed parties trying to address issuesÉand the people that really need to be brought out of the woodwork are generally working on fulfilling the next contract.’
The second phase deadline is Oct. 21. The public hearing takes place Nov. 23.
For more information about the service, contact Adam Froman, president of mmsg (416) 410-4661 or afroman@multimediator.com.
In other crtc new media news, the McLuhan Program E-Lab, on behalf of the crtc, will host a Website discussion forum on the proceedings. Launched in July, www.newmedia-forum.net is accepting postings until Nov. 22.
