Canada at IFFM in N.Y.

Five new Canadian feature films including a work in progress will be showcased as part of the New Voices: Canada sidebar at this year’s 20th edition of the Independent Feature Film Market. iffm unspools at the Angelika Film Centre in New York City Sept. 18-25.

The Canadian lineup includes the work in progress Another Planet, Toronto writer/director Christene Browne’s feature debut, distributed in Canada by Domino Film & Television; Bruno Lazaro Pacheco’s edgy sci-fi suspense City of Dark, from Toronto producer Greg Klymkiw; and Jerry Ciccoritti’s romance comedy Boy Meets Girl, distributed in Canada by Film Tonic and sold internationally by Beyond Films International.

Also on tap from Canada are Yan Cui and Qi Chang’s Yellow Wedding, the follow-up to their ’96 Berlin Film Festival hit Chinese Chocolate, and Vancouver director Bruce Sweeney’s dark comedy Dirty, distributed in Canada by Behaviour Distribution.

iffm director Sharan Sklar says 1,036 buyers from over 400 companies attended last year’s market, including u.s. indie and classic film buyers, and buyers from the u.k., France, Germany, Japan and elsewhere.
