– Storms, Terror and Disturbing Behaviour at Northwest Imaging
In addition to a trio of MGM series – ‘Poltergeist,’ ‘Stargate’ and ‘Disturbing Behaviour’ – Vancouver’s Northwest Imaging & Effects is working on a pair of MOWs from Shavick Entertainment – ‘Voyage of Terror’ and ‘Silent Storm.’ Series work includes ‘The Addams Family’ from Shavick and Saban and ‘Storm Warning’ for Discovery USA. Also in the shop is the ‘Twisteeria’ pilot for Scintilla.
– Power Play at DKP
Toronto’s Dan Krech Productions was recently awarded the effects responsibilities for 13 episodes of the Alliance series ‘Power Play’ and is also working on MOW ‘The Agency.’
On the commercial front the shop is working with artist Jon Lomberg (‘Cosmos,’ ‘Contact’), whom it represents for spot work, on a Robert Black-directed 90-second theatrical ad for Cheerios out of FCB, in addition to other international commercial work out of Japan and the U.S.
Work continues on the all-CG feature ‘The Nuttiest Nutcracker,’ which DKP is coproducing with Golden Films of Palo Alto, CA. The project has entailed extensive software development for the shop.
– Rainmaker
Vancouver’s Rainmaker is underway with a handful of feature projects including ‘Taillights Fade (Cadence),’ ‘Question Of Privilege’ and ‘Bad Money (Red Devil Films).’ The shop is also working on series ‘Betaville (Chesler/Perlmutter/River of Stone),’ ‘First Wave (Vidatron),’ ‘Dead Man’s Gun (Vidatron),’ ‘Stargate SG-1 (MGM),’ ‘The Outer Limits (Atlantis/Trilogy),’ ‘Poltergeist (Trilogy/MGM),’ ‘The Crow (Crescent),’ ‘Cold Squad (Keatley MacLeod/Atlantis) ‘ and ‘Nilus the Sandman (Delaney/Cambium).’ MOWs ‘Noah,’ ‘Suspect Behaviour’ and ‘The Colour of Courage’ are also in the house.
– Storm of the Century rips through CORE
In the wake of delivering rats and owls for recently released ‘Dr. Doolittle’ from 20th Century Fox, as well as Punch Productions’ ‘The Blouse Man,’ C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures is currently working on effects for features ‘New Jersey Turnpikes’ from Universal and ‘Santitos’ from Springall Pictures.
On the TV front, the shop has a full slate of projects in the works including ‘Brats of the Dark Nebula’ from Decode/Henson, ‘Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict’ and the third season of ‘Psi Factor’ from Atlantis Films.
CORE is also providing effects for Stephen King’s ‘Storm of the Century’ for ABC and Disney’s ‘The Pooch & The Pauper’ for which the shop is also handling on-set supervision.
And in addition to commercial work, the shop is also working on a broadcast design project for Family Channel – Canada.
– Bee-ing there
Toronto’s Beevision has been working on visual effects for MOW ‘Merlin’ for Annex Entertainment and Post City Productions, as well as animation and online editing for the 13-part series ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’ for Up Front Entertainment.
