Alliance adds four MOWS to ’98 slate

Alliance Communications is adding four tv movies from the recently acquired Citadel Entertainment to its 1998 television slate, says Alliance’s new president of filmed entertainment, David R. Ginsburg.

The four new tv movies include Thirst, an environmental thriller for nbc starring Adam Arkin, and the fountain-of-youth fantasy Emma’s Wish for cbs. cbs has also ordered Forget Me Never, a true story about a woman’s struggle with Alzheimer’s starring Marlo Thomas.

u.s. cablenet hbo has ordered Cara Cara, the story of a young woman who is set up to take the fall for the planned assassination of Nelson Mandela. Cara Cara will shoot in Ontario, while the other three new mows will likely go to camera in the u.s. under the Citadel label. Alliance holds worldwide distribution rights to all four productions.

Alliance has now raised its tv production slate to a total of 182 hours, one month into the company’s new fiscal year. The company expects to deliver 34 hours of tv movies and miniseries, 128 hours of drama series and 40 half-hours of animation. An announcement regarding Alliance’s motion picture slate is expected in late May.
