Mainframe Entertainment’s third-quarter results were down from the same period last year, but the Vancouver-based company is touting a slate of upcoming projects to bolster its financial picture.
Mainframe’s net loss for the period ended Dec. 31, 1997 totaled $2.1 million compared to a net gain of $300,000 for the same period last year. Revenue for the period was up $300,000 compared with last year. The net loss for the nine months ended Dec. 31 was $7.5 million compared to a loss of $200,000 for the same period last year.
Mainframe will produce a third season of television series Beast Wars and is actively negotiating with a u.s. toy manufacturer to produce a tv series based on an unnamed toy line launched globally this year. Mainframe says it will be entitled to a significant share of the toy-related revenues generated by the series, expected to be delivered by fall.
In addition to the 50 total episodes of Beast Wars and the toy series, Mainframe has inked an agreement with Toronto’s DECODE Entertainment for the production of between 13 and 26 episodes of a television series titled Weird-Ohs.
