:30 – Hobby Morrison

The Partners’ Film Company director/cameraman and New Orleans native Hobby Morrison touched down in Toronto recently to shoot a day for the cibc. The spot was a combination of previously shot footage mixed with some new live action which Morrison approached in his usual ‘Cajun-existential’ commercial style that he attributes to too much old Southern gumbo and jambalaya.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Taller

When did you realize that you wanted to be a director?

I was about to complete law school and realized that if I didn’t do something radical, I would be practicing law. Directing films or commercials seemed like a logical alternative.

What did your parents say?

#$%*&?!!!

What makes you laugh?

My wife Lisa, whose wit is matched only by her beauty; my golf game and all my fishing buddies.

What makes you see red?

Speed bumps, flavored coffees, automated phone menus.

Blue?

The ‘last cast’ on any fishing trip.

What is your tip for success?

Buy low, sell high, eat your spinach.

How do you feel about coming to Toronto to shoot in the middle of the Canadian winter?

The food’s great, the fishing is great, the people I work with are great – what’s not to like? I just pack an extra pair of snowshoes, a parka and a voodoo hangover remedy.
