– Red Sky/PolyGram deal
Upstart Vancouver-based distribution company Red Sky Entertainment has signed an exclusive two-year home video and non-theatrical distribution deal with PolyGram Filmed Entertainment Canada.
PolyGram will receive all home video and non-theatrical distribution rights to Red Sky’s films in Canada. First up is La Promesse from Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. Red Sky says it hopes to distribute 20 to 25 films per year.
Red Sky has recently been upping its public profile with large ads announcing its distribution slate in the Saturday editions of The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star.
– Lean is new OFDC chair
Marcelle Lean has been appointed chair of the Ontario Film Development Corporation.
Lean is chair and executive director of Ontario’s first French-language film festival, Cinefrance, opening later this month. Lean has also worked with the Ontario Film Review Board, Telefilm Canada, the Toronto International Film Festival and Ontario Cinematheque.
Lean replaces Diane Chabot, first appointed chair to the ofdc board in 1988 and chair since 1992.
