*Atlantic @ Sharing Stories
The Atlantic Film Partners, an interprovincial alliance of film funding agencies representing Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland, is hosting the first Atlantic Sharing Stories Business Event in conjunction with Sharing Stories, which began Nov. 15 in Glasgow, Scotland.
With the aim of building strategic business partnerships with key European markets, the Atlantic Sharing Stories event at the festival is expected to attract over 200 participants and will include producers, commissioning editors and film financiers from Northern Europe, the u.k. and Canada.
The agencies are receiving support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Sharing Stories, the Canadian High Commission and Manitoba Film and Sound Development Corporation.
*GlaxoWelcome prize for Lilies
The John Greyson feature film Lilies has won the GlaxoWelcome Award for outstanding feature film at this month’s 7th Reel Affirmations International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in Washington, d.c. The film’s writer Michel Marc Bouchard was in Washington to receive the award.
Lilies is an Ontario/Quebec coproduction and was produced by Toronto’ Triptych Media and Montreal’s Galafilm. The film has been primed at festivals in San Francisco, Oslo, Locarno, Montreal and Blois, and won four Genies in 1996 including best motion picture.
