Vancouver Television may go live earlier than its Sept. 22 official launch date. It’s expected that vtv could begin airing promotional spots and ads by Sept. 17.
Rogers Cablesystems, which is moving pbs to channels 27 or 30 depending on the region to make room for vtv on channel 9, is expected to cooperate with the early launch.
Project manager Susanne Boyce says the digital and unproved, leading-edge technology used at the new station has managers a bit nervous. Testing the waters before the first breakfast show goes live at 6 a.m. on Sept. 22 will help to eliminate bugs in the system.
The pbs move will bump wtn to an underdetermined channel on Vancouver sets.
