Behaviour names management team

Montreal: Behaviour Distribution senior vp Pierre Brousseau has announced the company’s new management and operations team.

Joanne Senecal is director of programming and Andrew Noble is director of marketing. Both Senecal and Noble crossed over with Brousseau from Alliance Vivafilm, the Montreal operation of Alliance Releasing.

Former Cineplex Odeon marketing executive Denis Beaule is Behaviour’s national promotions director and former Malofilm Distribution executive Joanne Pelletier has been named director of tv sales.

Malofilm Distribution’s day-to-day activity in Montreal has in large measure been taken over by Behaviour.

Brousseau says the company expects to acquire some half-dozen ‘high-quality’ European or foreign-language film titles in 1997/98.

‘You have to have a palette, a range of product on the distribution side. I have some biggies like Filmline International, and obviously Free Money (currently shooting with director Yves Simoneau and Marlon Brando) will be the first one. We also have films coming from Lux Films and a year and a half from now the first films coming from Behaviour.’

Lux is preparing to shoot a feature adaptation of best-selling Quebec novel Le Principe de Geyser, with Gabriel Pelletier (Karmina) directing and Yves Pelletier cowriting. The film will chronicle a coming-of-age story set in the early 1930s.

Brousseau says Behaviour Productions will undertake a wide range of productions and ‘needs a year to 18 months to fully manifest itself.’ He says it will take even longer to create an entrenched brand identification.

Behaviour plans to create content using its advanced digital design base, which includes a strategic alliance with Discreet Logic.

A former executive with Alliance Vivafilm, Brousseau is responsible for acquisition, marketing and distribution.
