Behind cbc’s drama-sharing deals with CanWest Global and wic, producers and broadcasters are wondering how the arrangement will play into ctcpf funding criteria.

Applications are in process for between $5 and $6 million for Traders and Emily of New Moon. Both series will air next season on cbc and on the private nets.

The situation is prompting the ctcpf to examine its policy on sublicensing deals.

To date although only $3 million in cheques have been drawn from the English-language envelope of the Licence Fee Program, a greenlight on the applications queued would bring the pool down to $4 million. Technically there is no designated cbc envelope in the lfp, but the pubcaster can trigger up to 50% of the funds.
