– J’en suis chases l’Homme Ideal B.O.
The Claude Fournier comedy J’en suis ranked ninth at the Quebec box office in its fifth week of release with receipts of $33,369. The gender-bender story of two out-of-work Montreal architects had total earnings of $668,127 following the April 11-13 weekend.
Coproduced by Rose Films and Malofilm Productions, J’en suis’ performance ranks second only to Georges Mihalka’s l’Homme Ideal among Quebec theatrical releases in the past 12 months.
Over 30 prints were released at launch by Malofilm Distribution.
– Kissed opens big
Buffed by heaps of critical praise, Lynne Stopkewich’s first feature Kissed did ‘exceptionally well’ on its opening weekend, says Malofilm’s Peter Wertelecky, vp of distribution. Although he won’t make box office receipts available, Wertelecky says the weekend numbers met his expectations and audiences continued to be strong on Monday and Tuesday night. Wertelecky predicts a run of at least four to five weeks on most screens.
Kissed opened on nine Canadian screens April 11, all of them Cineplex Odeon except for an indie theater in Vancouver.
