The Claude Fournier social comedy J’en suis grossed $145,000 during the three-day March 14-16 weekend, tops at the Quebec box office.

The film stars Patrick Huard and Roy Dupuis and premiered at a Centre Molson gala screening March 10 in front of 1,900 invited guests including Quebec Premier Lucien Bouchard and wife Audrey Best.

Dupuis, featured in the new Canadian tv series Nikita, plays an out-of-work Montreal architect who poses as a homosexual in an effort to hold on to a new job.

J’en suis was released on 36 screens across Quebec by Malofilm Distribution, including one English-subtitled print, and opened on a single French-track screen in Moncton March 21.
