Commercial Directions: Hackett, Tarko shoot McD’s

Maxx Productions director Dan Hackett scored a pool of spots for McDonald’s, lensed by dop Gabor Tarko and assigned through Cossette. Flashcut’s Tim Kirkwood edited. Barry Dukoff manned the camera and the director’s chair for Benckiser Lime-A-Way through Bates Canada. Post is being handled by Chameleon’s Ross Briggs.

Action has been heavy over at comm.bat films. Director David Storey and dop Derek Vanlint wrapped two days for Ontario Lottery Corporation. David Hicks at Panic & Bob edited, with Paul Jones Effects Studio handling the f/x. Agency on the ‘Aliens’ spot was Promanad. Storey also picked up three days in Orlando, Florida, for Lombard’s Privilege 50 through Vickers & Benson. Craig Mullins was the dop and Daily Post’s Chris Van Dyke cut.

Vadim Perelman directed two days for Pizza Hut through bbdo, lensed by Richard Henkels and cut by Flashcut Editing’s Chris Parkins. Carol Clusiau wrapped a day for H&R Block, created by students at the Ontario College of Art. Steve Cosens manned the camera and Panic & Bob’s Steve Zourntos handled post.

Steve Gordon shot and directed a Mr. Clean spot for Grey Advertising as well as a Petro-Canada job through TBWA Chiat/Day. Chameleon’s Andy Attalai edited.

At The Directors Film Company, Robert Quartly and dop Rene Ohashi teamed up for two days for Harvey’s, assigned through Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll and edited by Parkins. The pair also picked up a two-day shoot for General Motors through MacLaren McCann. Attalai edited.

Magic’s directors have some shoots coming their way: Ted Parkes has a day for Country Style Donuts through Larter Creative, Derek Case got the call on an MT&T Sympatico spot assigned by Corporate Communications, and Chuck Hallau is lined up for a Procter & Gamble Always spot through dmb&b.

Aviator Pictures in Vancouver shot three days with director David Straiton for Western Canada Lottery Corporation. The assignment was through Palmer Jarvis Communications/Winnipeg. Ron Williams was behind the camera and Laurie Case handled the edit.

In the Feb. 24 Commercial Directions, Panic & Bob’s Ron Hicks edited the kfc spot directed by Jack Churchill, not David Baxter as listed. In the March 10 issue, Hicks, not Baxter, was the editor on Partners’ Canada Life commercial and Panic & Bob’s Brian Williams edited Cactus Productions’ Fountain Tires spots.
