Toronto-based International Image Services has developed an electronic solution to aspect ratio conversion, set to be launched Feb. 1. The service, called Image Plus, will initially be installed in the company’s l.a. office and early tests, conducted on the film The Mask, have reportedly delivered seamless results.

Toronto post production and effects company Dan Krech Productions is continuing to grow its presence south of the border with expansion of its current facilities and the opening of a new office there, and a strategic alliance with a major u.s. post player.

Krech has completed a deal with Atlanta-based Crawford Communications to share technological, client, and marketing and advertising resources. The 350-person Atlanta shop has satellite capabilities and the two shops will ultimately be connected via satellite and high speed T1 lines.

dkp is also expanding its l.a. office with the addition of about five staff and two workstations and plans to open a New York office of roughly the same size in the next six months.
