– Top honors at Cinefest

At Cinefest, Sudbury, Ont.’s film festival which ran Sept. 17-22, Bruce McDonald’s Hard Core Logo captured the Viacom Award for best Canadian film. The festival screened over 50 features and eight programs of short films. Project Grizzly, Peter Lynch’s doc, won the MCTV Award for best Ontario film.

Attendance was up 4%, says executive director Tammy Frick.

– INIS deadline

Oct. 28 is the deadline for applicants to inis, the Quebec advanced film studies school.

Nineteen candidates will be accepted for the fall term, seven in both screenwriting and directing categories, five in the new producer program.

The two-and-a-half year program is made up of three cycles, with tuition costs at $5,000 per year. Funding for inis students is available in the second year.
