Playback wishes to clarify that it has no reason to believe that the resignation of Brenda Collins as executive administrator of the bcmpa reported in a Journal item (July 15, p. 4 ‘Collins resigns’) is the result of a deficit of the Association.

The bcmpa’s fiscal year was marked with many costly initiatives such as the first-ever Leo Awards, market programs to natpe and mipcom, and a cd showcase for b.c. producers.

Board members call the financial situation a necessary investment in building the credibility of the association, which has in the past several years been buffeted by financial stress and membership lethargy.

According to Collins, she left her contract prior to its renewal because it took too much time away from her own production projects.
