Announcing: New faces, more familiar faces

Brunico Communications is pleased to announce the appointment of Louise Leger as Playback’s new special reports editor. In addition to helming special reports, Leger is the new Ontario Scene columnist and also covers the Ontario film and tv news beat. Please contact her at Playback’s Toronto office with all manner of developments on the production-through-distribution front.

This issue’s Investment and Finance coverage marks Leger’s first report with Playback, as well as her first Ontario Scene column.

Leger, a Bishop’s University grad and Quebec native, was most recently freelance editing and writing in the entertainment/business field and a frequent contributor to The Globe and Mail’s Broadcast Week mag. Leger’s earlier credits include stints as managing editor of TV Guide, and editor of TV Week magazine (Vancouver and Victoria).

brunico is also pleased to announce that production technology reporter Teressa Iezzi will be adding commercial production sector coverage to her current national post-production beat.

As Allison Vale assumes more news responsibilities, Iezzi, who joined Playback last September, will be the contact for Word on the Street, On The Spot, Storyboards and is also the linchpin for national commercial industry news.

More Ian Edwards

brunico is also happy to divulge that b.c.-based news correspondent Ian Edwards will be playing a bigger role in Playback’s Western coverage. Starting with our next issue, you’ll be seeing more of Edwards as he takes on the B.C. Scene column and assumes a larger film and tv news responsibility, including reporting for Playback’s faxed newsletter First Take as well as Playback magazines Canada On Location and Playback International. For all those with b.c. column scoops and news, please refer to the masthead for details on how to reach Edwards.

Under construction

change is also afoot in Playback’s physical space. Brunico is expanding its digs, which entails renovation at its Toronto hq next month. In addition to an intricate wall shuffle, office improvement plans include a new phone system replete with voice mail, separate extensions and a myriad of cool features designed to improve communications.

fyi: While the goal is increasing ease of access, during the upheaval there may be some transitional kinks, so please be patient and persistent.
