Milton, Ont.-based Tee-Comm Electronics has announced an agreement to supply its world standard digital receiver set-top boxes to the People’s Republic of China. Tee-Comm, manufacturer of home satellite systems, is part owner of Canadian direct to home service, ExpressVu and owner of u.s. dth supplier, AlphaStar. An initial $500,000 order has been made for Tee-Comm’s Star Trak 1000 MPEG-2 Digital Video Broadcast (dvb) consumer digital receivers, to be shipped at the end of the month. Tee-Comm is implementing world standard dvb mpeg-2 compliant compression technology in its set-top receivers, which will deliver programming to consumers in China from the AsiaSat 2 satellite.
