It’s good to be Louder

An experimental audio solution for ads that come with budget problem baggage is brought to you by the people with the slogan: ‘It’s good to be us.’ Louder Music and Sound Design’s Worldwide Headquarters now boasts the Louder Demo Lab, a ‘creative playpen’ for rip-seeking ad folk. The toy box sports a multitrack hard-disk recording system (ProTools), tape-lock, a voice-over booth, and adult supervision is provided by an engineer. There’s also a sound designer and confirmed reports of fab food in the house.

Desired ingredients for your experimentation, such as sfx, stock music and voices, can be attained, as can original tunes.

Bottom line, ‘Clients aren’t always there, so you’ve got room to play around and it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg,’ says Louder producer/composer David Krystal.

Pricing for rip-o-matics, radio demos and full-blown tracks is determined by ‘whatever they need’ to ‘whatever the budget is.’

Production manager Christine Leslie says since the lab opened in December over 30 demos, typically in the $500 to $2,000 budget range, have gone through. Leslie, who has played a variety of roles on some of these spots, estimates the service provides cost savings of about 50%. MM
