Commercial Directions: Kerslake picks up Nike shoot

At Radke Films, Philip Kates and dop Gabor Tarko have landed a prelight and two shoot days for Gatorade early in February. The agency is Bayer Bess Vanderwalker and the editor will be Third Floor’s Richard Unruh.

A prelight and a shoot day with Toronto Raptor star rookie Damon Stoudamire was picked up by Imported Artists director/dop Kevin Kerslake. The client was Nike through Wieden & Kennedy. Post will be handled in the u.s.

LTB Productions will be sending director George D’Amato and dop George Willis to New Mexico for part of a four-day Sears corporate campaign shoot through Prism Communications. Third Floor’s Alex Eaton is the editor.

On a two-day shoot for Speedy through Bozell Palmer Bonner, Revolver director Sam Pecoraro teamed up with dop Al McPherson and editor Brian Williams. Director Cosimo Zitani has landed his first job at Revolver for the Financial Post through Campaign House. The national campaign will involve a number of shoot days across the country.

Dalton director David Straiton, working with dop Barry Parrell, will pick up two days at the end of January for General Mills Dunkaroos through fcb.

At Apple Box Vancouver, Shawn Lawless, on his first project as dop, is working with director Philip Spink on a two-day shoot for the Vancouver Sun. The fruits of their labor will be four 30-second spots through BBDO Vancouver.

Spink also shot three days with dop John Spooner for Cap Toys and Vactory Toys. In Edmonton, Mark Walton and dop John Houtman picked up a day for an agt spot through Inhouse Advertising Group. The same team picked up two more days for the w.c.l.c. through Calgary’s Parallel Strategies.

Kessler Irish produced a one-day shoot for Kellogg’s Canada out of Leo Burnett Advertising. Martin Shewchuk directed. The dop was Gabor Tarko and Peter McAuley of Daily Post handled the cut.

Vancouver’s Aviator Pictures picked up three days from Montana Power Company for director David Tennant and dop Norbert Kaluza through Spiker Communications in Missoula, Montana. The two 30-second spots were shot on location at the Big Sky Raptor Centre, a rehab for wild birds, and in Red Lodge, Montana.

Tim Hamilton of Avion, working with dop George Morita, picked up six days for Chrysler through bbdo. The shoot days will stretch into early February.

Big Star Motion Pictures has picked up the Wal-Mart Valentine’s Day campaign through SMW Advertising. Giacomo Moncada will direct and the spot will be lensed by John Holsko. Peter McAuley of Daily Post is the editor.

Maxx Productions and L.A. Story director Mark Berndt and dop Gabor Tarko picked up a three-day shoot for Folgers Coffee through N.W. Ayer, New York.
