In recognition of the one hundredth anniversary of cinema, the National Film Board has unearthed the lost history of Alice Guy-Blache. The Lost Garden: The Life and Cinema of Alice Guy-Blache, a new documentary about the first female filmmaker directed by Marquise Lepage, will be featured at screenings across Canada.
The program also features two short films by the pioneering French filmmaker. Public screenings will be held in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton and Victoria and the French version will be screened across Quebec and in Moncton.
The film is a production of Regards de femmes, the French program’s women’s studio of the nfb.
