However, one government official confirms that with news of Time-Warner’s buyout of Turner, there is the possibility that Turner could circumvent Investment Canada altogether and set up shop under the auspices of Warner in Canada.

Montreal documentary and feature filmmaker Michael Rubbo has been named head of doc production with the Australian Broadcasting Corp. in Sydney.

‘I will be responsible for approximately 200 hours a year of documentary programming, about 60% of which are acquisitions and coproductions. So my connections with Canada become interesting,’ he says.
