– The CD goes HD
Berkeley, Calif.’s Pacific Microsonics introduced its Model One High Definition Compatible Digital Processor, used to encode cds, to the professional audio market at the Audio Engineering Society convention, held in New York from Oct. 6-9.
hdcd technology, the 10-year project of pm, is designed to recapture the full range of sound that sticklers say is missing from digitized recordings. It has already been used on Neil Young’s Mirror Ball and is slated for use on a number of upcoming projects, both rereleases and new recordings. The processor is designed to provide hdcd process mastering, post-production and monitoring capabilities in studio and remote environments.
