For the Record: Telefilm participates in new projects

* From June 1 to July 31, Telefilm Canada agreed to participate in 34 new tv and feature projects to the tune of $20,106,806.

From the Canadian Broadcast Production Development Fund, $7.1 million was committed to 10 English-language projects and $6 million to 12 French-language projects.

From the Feature Film Fund, $3.3 million was committed to The Boys Club, Lilies, Saltwater Moose and Swann, with another $2 million going to Air Libre, Caboose and Sous-sol.

Coyote will receive $1.6 million under the Commercial Production Fund and the Regular Fund will chip in $25,000 to Red Flowers and Two Impossible Films and $30,000 to L’Escorte and Volpe (Le Champion).

Since the beginning of the 1995/96 fiscal year on April 1, Telefilm has committed a total of $29.4 million.

Meanwhile, Telefilm’s London and Los Angeles offices have closed. The London office is being sublet to Toronto-based Nelvana and the l.a. office to Cinar, Montreal.

In the u.k., Bill Niven will continue to serve as a contact for Canadians through the Paris office.
