Media Awards

a.d.a.m. Software was the big winner at the 1995 International Digital Media Awards, picking up four prizes including Best of Show for A.D.A.M. The Inside Story. The awards, organized by Jai and Bruce Cole, were presented during Multimedia Exposition and Forum 95, held May 31 to June 3 at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre.

Ask Co. won the games/pure entertainment prize for Pop Up Computer. Merit awards went to Interplay Productions for Cyberia and 7th Level for Monty Python’s Complete Waste of Time.

O’Hara Systems won in the sales and marketing category for its Labatt Loyalty Multimedia program. Bose Corporation and Sierra Creative Communications picked up merits.

In the public information category, the Centre for Image and Sound Research took top prize with Immerce: A Visual Database; merit awards went to Hot Wired and to Sundail Media for Pixel Pushers/Push.

The consumer/enrichment nod went to a.d.a.m.; Delrina’s Echo Lake and the CN Tower’s EcoDeck took merit awards.

Education and training was won by Computer Curriculum for Amazonia; merit nods went to High Techsplanations for VR Surgitrainer and to a.d.a.m. and Benjamin Cumming Publishing for A.D.A.M. Interactive Physiology.

In the craft awards categories, Sierra took best photography honors for Shin Sugino’s Interactive Portfolio; best interface went to Byron Preiss Multimedia for Frank Lloyd Wright; a.d.a.m. and Benjamin Cumming took best graphics; Bose took soundtrack honors; the animation nod went to Mediacube for Masciarun; best video was awarded Immpact! for Feature Magazine Interactive; best kiosk/ installation went to the CN Tower Ecodeck; and the best online interface went to Personal Computer World.

The Apple people’s choice award went to Discus for The Jewels of The Oracle, and a special achievement award was presented to Steve Williams.
