The heat is on in the fee-for-service negotiations between Rogers Communications and the new specialties. A rapid series of meetings have taken place since Rogers put an offer on the table two weeks ago. At press time, the two were 5%-10% apart.

In other specialty news, Rogers is set to apply to the crtc to package u.s. superchannels with its tiered services, says Rudi Engel, exec vp, Rogers Cable TV.

CBC has signed a one-year codevelopment deal with the bbc that cbc exec Jim Burt says may increase the number of the English network’s mows and miniseries. Burt says the potential projects ‘will have to have an organic Canadian element.’
