Former Television Quatre Saisons president Jean Fortier has been named president of Radio-Quebec. Fortier has also been asked by Quebec Premier Jacques Parizeau to head up a review committee to examine the public broadcaster’s mandate.
The committee is expected to file a report by June 5.

+ At Vision tv, three senior staffers have moved a rung up the ladder: director of programming Peter Flemington, who is now v-p programming and development; senior producer/host Rita Shelton Deverell, now v-p production and presentation; and comptroller Susan Bower, who is now taking on director, finance and administration duties.
+ Cambium Releasing’s Arnie Zipursky and Bruce Glawson have named Rita Carbone Fleury a third partner in the company. Carbone Fleury, who has been with Cambium since 1991, assumes the title of senior vice-president.
+ Eric Holmes has rejoined Comweb as director of operations and will be based out of the Toronto head office.
+ The Canadian Film and Television Production Association has named its new 1995/96 board of directors: Douglas Barrett, Nancy Chapelle, Barry Cowling, Doug Dales, Richard Davis, Stephen Ellis, Gord Haines, Julia Keatley, Steve Levitan, Ira Levy, Derek Mazur, Doug McKenzie, Matthew O’Connor, Linda Schuyler, Kevin Shea, Annabel Slaight, Andy Thomson and Kevin Tierney.
+ Gino Apponi has been named executive producer of Newswatch, the Quebec cbc evening newscast.
Apponi replaces Roch Magnan, who left cbc last month to join the news department at the TVA Television Network.
+ Scott Brooke has been appointed manager of William F. White’s new Halifax branch.
+ At BBS Saskatchewan, Shirley Stuts has been named to the newly-created position of general sales manager; Bruce Acton has been named director of communications and continues as cfqc-tv promotion manager; David Fisher is the new creative director and cfqc creative services manager; and Michael Fulmes has been appointed executive producer.
+ Dennis Watson is leaving his vice-president/general manager post with Power Broadcasting’s chex-tv Peterborough and radio stations ckru and ckwf to join ckco-tv Kitchener July 1.
+ The video entry of Susan Beirnes and Germain Wilson, second-year radio/tv students at Toronto’s Centennial College, won the International Switching Symposium’s top prize, consisting of $1,000 scholarships and a trip to Berlin to attend the April 23-28 symposium. Toronto hosts the next iss high-tech gathering in 1997.
+ As part of its salute to the centenary of film, the University of Montreal has bestowed an honorary doctorate degree on filmmaker Denys Arcand, director of such critically acclaimed films as The Decline of the American Empire, Jesus de Montreal and Love and Human Remains.
+ The CFTPA National Training Programme has chosen eight winners for its Mentorship Awards: Carmen Arndt, Howard Dancyger, Jason Margolis, Jeremy McCormack, Sandra Meret, James Milligan, Lee Andrew Tanner and Melanie Zarr. The awards, are worth up to $7,500.
