Frame brings his Skills to bear
Circle Productions director Fred Frame scored nine days for Skills, Vancouver through Lanyon Phillips Brink. Brian Pearson was behind the camera. Director Robert Turner and dop Ron Williams picked up three days for Ivory out of Saatchi and Saatchi’s Toronto office and another three days for Counter Attack against Drinking and Driving though Wasserman and Partners.
Director Shin Sugino paired up with dop Nick Taylor for two days in Toronto for client PACC Health Insurance. Portland, Oregon’s AKA Advertising was the agency. Through Earle Palmer Brown, Wade Ferley directed and shot a day for Florida Lottery.
James Weiner doubled as director/dop for MD Healthplan through Cronin and Company, Connecticut. Blair Hayes pulled double-duty as director/dop for two days in Los Angeles for Eaton’s. Derik Murray directed a day in Vancouver for the Lion’s Society. Williams shot the assignment, which was out of Palmer Jarvis.
Big Star Motion Pictures director Giacomo Moncada directed the third spot for Italpasta in a campaign created by Big Star. Adam Swica performed camera duties. Loran Di Pasquale of Medallion pfa handled coloring, and original music was scored by Domenic Troiano. The fourth spot in the campaign is slated for production in mid-July.
Martin Granger of Avion Film Productions directed three days for Harvey’s out of smw, with George Morita shooting. Through Ammirati and Puris, director John Fawcett hooked up with dop Sean Valentini for a two-day Labatt assignment.
The Imported Artists Film Company’s Amir Hamed directed and shot a day in Vancouver for Legend Ice Cream through bbdo’s Vancouver office, and Mark Celentano directed a two-day Eaton’s direct assignment. Peter Hartmann was the dop and Third Floor Editing’s Alex Eaton edited.
Richard D’Alessio scored two days for Sunlight and MacLaren Lintas, with Andre Pienaar the dop. Flashcut’s Bob Kennedy posted.
Director Boris Damast of Damast Gordon and Associates hooked up with dop Ronny Dana for two days for Kellogg’s Low Fat Pop Tarts and three days for Kellogg’s Pop Tart Minis. Both assignments were through Leo Burnett, Chicago. Chris Clays of Cutters posted the first job and Chris Parkins of Flashcut Editing did the second.
Damast, this time with Kevin Jones on camera, picked up two days for at&t out of New York agency Uniworld. Big Pictures’ Elaine Volpe took editing honors.
On a job for Southwest Airlines, Damast and dop Nick Allen-Woolfe joined forces for a day out of gsd&m, Austin, Texas. Michael Schwartz posted. The Damast/ Allen-Woolfe team picked up another two days for Christie Sun Ups and Harrod and Mirlin, with Parkins editing. Jungle Music’s Roger Harris did the music.
Also at dga, Glen Schultz directed an Anacin ‘Mortgage Relief’ promotion out of Whitehall Robins, with Doug Koch behind the lens. Parkins posted the one-day job.
L.T.B. Productions’ Vince Misiano landed two days directing for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes through Leo Burnett Sonyon, Korea and Leo Burnett, Chicago. Harry Lake was the cinematographer. Director Christopher Gentile worked on a two-day shoot for Young and Rubicam and Kool-Aid, with Ryan McMaster on camera. Third Floor’s Barry McMann posted.
Radke Films’ J. Wesley Jones worked a two-day shoot as director/dop for Labatt Copper and Lone sms. Ron Baxter Smith landed six days directing for GM Visa through MacLaren Lintas, with Valentini as cinematographer and Eaton as editor.
At The Players Film Company, David McNally directed for Hershey Glossettes and DDB Needham, with Koch on camera duty. The Daily Post Video’s Peter McAuley handled the editing.
Director D.J. Webster of The Artists Company completed a pool of five 15s for Trident and J. Walter Thompson. Koch was cinematographer and Mark Hajek of Daily Post was editor. Gillean Proctor directed a day for Foot Joy, with Allen-Woolfe taking dop honors. The job was out of Arnold Fortuna Lawner and Cabot. For Pantene, Michal Utterback directed and Nixon Binney shot three days through Grey, New York.
Sparks Productions director/ dop Stephen Amini landed a day on a 30-second NGK Spark Plugs spot out of Griffin Bacal Volny to air nationally mid-month.
Randy MacDonald of Dalton Kessler Productions directed and Barry Parrel shot a one-day job for Bounce. The agency was dmb&b. David Straiton will direct a corporate video for ism, with dop Wally Corbit.
Chaos International’s Larry August landed an assignment for Canadian Tire and Doner Schur Peppler. The job was shot by Rene Ohashi and edited by Smash’s Barry Farrell.
Bob Keates of Edmonton’s Apple Box Productions directed and John Spooner shot a two-day job in a Toyota pool. Calgary’s The Alligator Group was the agency.
In Vancouver, Apple Box director Phil Spink joined dop John Houtman on a three-day assignment for Cap Toys which will air nationally in the u.s.
Vancouver-based Ace Film Company’s Allen Jones directed two days for 7-11, with Hans Sipma as cinematographer. Scali McCabe Sloves was the agency.
In Montreal, La Fabrique d’Images director Jacques Fournier and dop Sylvain Brault shot an English 30 and a French 30 for Bell Mobilite and Cossette Communication-Marketing. The vignettes take a humorous look at the babysitting ordeal and feature actors Germain Houde and Arthur Grosser. The post assignments were shared by Buzz, AstralTech and Supersuite, which did the transfer.
Director Jean-Francois Pouliot and dop Steve Danyluk executed on a new French 30, ‘Diva,’ for m&m candies and Effem Foods. The one-day action originated with agency Armada Bates.
Also out of La Fabrique, Marc S. Grenier directed and dop Binney lit the action on ‘Natural,’ a new English 30 for Clairol’s Natural Instincts.
At S.W.A.T. Films, new action includes two French 30s for Federation producteurs de porc du Quebec and Taxi, l’agence directed by Alain DesRoches and shot by Yves Belanger. The one-day pork producers shoot was posted at Buzz and Centre de montage electronique. Desroches and Belanger also got the call on another Taxi assignment, Clover Leaf tuna.
Jim Donovan and dop J.P. Trudel shot six 15s for Yellow’s summer ’95 campaign out of agency Presence +, while Jack Hackel directed a 35th anniversary spot for retailer Brault et Martineau and J. Francois Pothier directed a French 30 for Albacor Micro Systeme.
Other production out of swat includes four promo spots for Pharmacie Jean Coutu and agency Natcom, and another promo, with actress Francine Ruel, for Radio-Canada drama series Scoop and Blitz Quebec.
At production house Cinelande, Francois Girard directed and Daniel Jobin lit the action on a split-screen studio shoot for GyneCure and Pfizer Canada and agency Cossette. Called ‘Football,’ the spot was posted at Hybride Technologies and cme.
Ongoing product action for Zellers is handled in studio at Cinelande by director Frederic D’Amour and dop Bruce Chung.
Director Eric Canuel and dop Jobin got the call on six French 30s for Ford du Canada’s ’95 corporate campaign. The pool features Canadian IndyCar driver Jacques Villeneuve and is out of St. Jacques Vallee/y&r.
