Good quarter

Specialty and pay-tv operator Premier Choix:TVEC reports net earnings rose 18% over last year for its latest quarter, ending Feb. 28. Earnings rose to $1.07 million while revenues were up more than 25% to $10.8 million.

We rate in France

According to Telefilm Canada’s Paris office, Atom Egoyan’s feature film Calendar took in box office receipts of $20,000 on one screen in its first week in Paris. The film opened following the recent success of Egoyan’s latest effort, Exotica.

On tv, the opening episode of the miniseries The Boys of St. Vincent garnered a top score with a 39.5 share on TF1, and the France/Canada mow, Une Petite fille particuliere from Productions du Cerf and France’s mfp, scored a 39 share on France 2.

Two move to TVA

cbmt-tv executive producer Roch Magnan has left the Radio-Canada Montreal station to become executive producer, news and current affairs with the TVA Television Network, where he will focus on special events coverage including the Quebec referendum.

And Radio-Canada news producer Louis Lalande has joined tva as director, internal production. He replaces Yves Asselin who resigned several weeks ago.
