Bell calls Imported
At Toronto-based Avion Film Productions, George Morita directed and shot a day for Red Dog through bbdo and three days for Pampers out of dmb&b.
L.T.B. Productions director Eugene Beck shot two days for Fisher Price and agency Waring and Larosa, New York. dop duties were handled by Nick Allen-Woolfe. Steve Bruni doubled as director/dop on a shoot for Swiss Chalet and Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly. Atomic’s David Buder edited. Posting was done at Flashcut.
Director Bob Canning of Dalton Kessler Productions picked up a day for Kraft Salad Dressing and Leo Burnett, with Allen-Woolfe on camera.
Also on the slates at Dalton Kessler, director David Straiton has a pool of three Pepsi Max spots out of J. Walter Thompson. Barry Parrell is doping the one-day job, and the casting call went to Masala Blue.
Imported Artists Film Company picked up another two jobs for Bell through Leo Burnett: Neal Slavin directed and Doug Cooper shot three spots in two days, and director Charlie Carlson hooked up with dop Ed Lachman for two days. Third Floor Editing’s Gillian McCarthy cut the first assignment, and Andy Ames of Partners’ Post cut the second.
Chaos International director Todd Burrows hooked up with dop Peter Hartmann on a pool for the Toyota Dealers Association. Barry Farrell of Smash posted. Saatchi and Saatchi was the agency.
At The Players Film Company, director David McNally picked up four days for Procter and Gamble’s Pantene, with Nixon Binney handling camera. Director Rob Thomas landed three days for Tim Horton Donuts and Enterprise Advertising, with Parrell the dop. And a Newfoundland Power spot out of Target Marketing has gone to director/dop Henry Less.
In Vancouver, Natterjack Animation’s Steven Evangelatos directed three 30s for Nike in Japan through Colossal Pictures. The spots, which incorporate live action and animation, will air in Japan in April.
Also of note, Natterjack recently completed a 60-second animated segment for the live-action feature film Tank Girl, based on the cult comic book of the same name and slated for release March 31.
Apple Box Productions director Phil Spink and dop John Houtman are teaming up for three days in Vancouver for Cap Toys and W.B. Doner.
In Montreal, Figaro Films reports a big, five-day shoot for Air Canada and Marketel, with Jean Claude Lauzon directing and Guy Dufaux handling dop duties. Shot in San Francisco, Montreal and elsewhere, the shoot produced six English/French 30s. Centre de montage electronique and Metaphor handled post.
Cosimo Cavallaro directed and dop Peter Hartmann lit the action on a French/English 30 and 60 for Canadian National and agency bcp. Shot over seven days in Jasper and in-studio at Moliflex/ White in Montreal, the spots were posted at Ann-imation and Flash Cut, both Toronto.
Martin Ouellette directed a French 30 movie video promo for McDonald’s Restaurants and Cossette, with busy cinematographer J.P. Trudel behind the lens, while Lauzon also got the nod on four new French 30s for Provigo’s spring campaign out of Cossette. Yves Belanger was the dop.
At La Fabrique d’Images, new action includes two French/ English 30s for Delisle Foods’ Petite Danone, a new fruit puree snack line. The three-day shoot was directed by Marc S. Grenier for agency Saint Jacques Vallee/ Young et Rubicam. The dop was Steve Danyluk. Buzz Image Group executed the post and Supersuite and cme shared transfer duties. Grenier and Danyluk were the team on a one-day shoot for Thomas J. Lipton’s Poulet Nouilles soup, also out of sjv/y&r.
Finally, at Jet Films, French director Louis-Pascal Couvelaire and dop Trudel shot a French 30 for Visa and RTA Publicite. Creation Montage did the off-line edit, Supersuite did the online and transfer, and Jean-Marie Benoit created the music at Studio Tempo.
Director Christian Langlois did the animation on a new 30 for TV Hebdo, a weekly tv listings magazine. The spot features a bothersome fly and was created in-studio at Fourmi Rouge. Taxi, l’agence is the agency.
Michel David was the director and Trudel was the dop on three French 30s for RoNa Entrepot. Shot in suburban Laval, Que., the pool features the godfather of Quebec comics, Yvon Deschamps. The agency is PDG Strategie-Concept.
Also at Jet, director Neil McGregor and dop Danyluk shot a French/English 30-second promo on behalf of Brasserie Molson O’Keefe’s support of the Quebec 2002 Winter Olympic Games bid. The spot features a proud beer delivery man and is out of pdg.
