Telefilm commitments
In February, Telefilm Canada made commitments to six new Canadian tv and feature film productions totaling $1,073,884: $335,000 to Tlaxwesa WA – Strength of the River and The Song Spinner, and $200,750 to L’anecdote cinema and Centenaire du cinema through the Canadian Broadcast Program Development Fund; $518,134 to Turning April under the Feature Film Fund; and $20,000 to Mere through its Regular Fund.
Since the beginning of the fiscal year starting April 1, 1994, Telefilm has invested $61.8 million in Canadian film and tv projects.
Quebec tax credit tops $40 million in ’94/95
For the period April 1, 1994 to March 15, 1995, sogic issued tax credits worth just under $40.2 million, based on total certified production budgets of $224.6 million. Interim financing, in the form of loan guarantees, during the period totaled $22.3 million. The 1994/95 tax credit total is the highest ever since the program’s launch four years ago as a replacement for the 166% Quebec tax shelter program.
