Malofilm Distribution’s New Media Division gets interactive with retailers across Canada this month with its launch of over 40 new cd-rom titles from companies like u.s.-based Trimark Interactive, Technology Dynamics Corporation and General Media Corporation.
Ranging from electronic art libraries to music, storybooks and games, the products are mass-appeal entries which will be released (about four per month) through traditional video (mass merchants like Price Club and Toys R Us) and software channels. Price points will be in the low to mid range.
As to the unit volume expected in Canada, Malofilm Distribution president Yves Dion expects anything from 500 up – estimating a game title could move between 2,500 to 4,000 units, edutainment 1,500 to 2,000 and a hit could reach 10,000. The New Media Division is also exploring set-top boxes, online services and interactive tv.
